Instant coffee, also known as soluble coffee, coffee crystals, and coffee powder, is a product made from brewed coffee beans that allow people to make hot coffee easily by applying hot water or milk to the powder or crystals and stirring.

Various types of instant coffee can be used in daily life like events, lectures, and conferences, as well as at businesses. Instant coffee because of its ease of use, having a lower shipping weight, longer shelf life, and does not require special tools to prepare, has more fans than any other coffee product.

History of Instant Coffee

David Strang was a New Zealander who first invented instant coffee for spray drying in 1898. He sold his instant coffee under the brand name "Coffee Strang". In 1910, a Japanese scientist named Satori Kato registered a similar authority. Another method for producing instant coffee was started in 1910 by George Lewis in Washington. The most significant event in this field occurred was in 1938, It was the development of an innovative method for producing this form of coffee and launched its products in the global instant coffee industry.

Ways to Produce Instant Coffee

There are 2 ways to produce Instant coffee (we will cover more in detail about it in two different sections)

It is a common method and has more popularity. Small droplets of the coffee extract are poured onto hot air. The heat dries it almost instantly, turning it into a fine powder or small fragments. 


This method has a shorter drying time and produces rounded particles. The coffee extract is frozen and separated into pieces, which are then vacuum-dried at a low temperature. 

How to make Instant Coffee

1. Boil the kettle 

2. fill your mug with hot water from the kettle. When the cup feels warm, remove the water.

3. Add 2g of Little’s enriched instant coffee to the mug.

4. One minute after the kettle has boiled, pour around 200ml of hot water over the coffee grains

5. Stir until the grains dissolve

6. Add milk, cream, or sugar to taste

7. Serve and enjoy!
